About Cristy Cash, AMFT

Living with neurocomplexities like ADHD can come with stressors that stack up over time. Coping mechanisms crop up to try to shield us from shame and failure, and then end up becoming a trap that makes it difficult to imagine a future where your true personality can exist too. People and systems can be less than understanding and even oblivious to the strengths that come from allowing you be your true self. Solutions and advice can feel like burdens - adding one more complexity to your world when you already feel so far behind.

Shame-free ADHD involves working together one-on-one to bring less-stigmatizing language and perspective to what it feels like moving through your world and even to explore how others make it difficult. We can gently explore tools and systems to help with executive function and the difficult feelings that come up from feeling like you're not measuring up.

I am trained as an Expressive Arts therapist and AMFT #156123. I graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Expressive Arts is a brain-based experiential practice that uses the arts to allow other types of nonverbal communication into the therapy space. You do not have to be an artist to work with expressive arts, and it can be particularly helpful for people who deal with “overthinking” or analysis, and for people who, in their journey, have lost track of their authentic voice.

Whether you are trying to avoid passing excess criticism to your kids, finding the courage to complete a goal left unfinished, or seeking to remember the joy of your true self before all the masking, I can be a helpful part of this journey for you. Your gifts are essential in this world. Let's help you see that and let's allow your story to heal.
