I earned my MA in Integrative Counseling Psychology from The California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). I chose CIIS because of its unique blend of Eastern and Western philosophies combined with spirituality, connection, and honoring of indigenous traditions and medicine.

I am trained in Gabor Mate's Compassionate Inquiry, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Currently, I am pursuing certification in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and will be offering KAP starting Summer of 2024.

About Lene Pedersen, AMFT

Hi, My name is Lene Pedersen, and I am a licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#408040). I build my relationship with clients on empathy, attentive listening and an unwavering commitment to providing a safe emotional space where clients can investigate their deepest wounds and fears.

Parts of what shapes us as human beings is out of our control. But we have control over how we respond to our experiences. When we become more conscious and start being able to identify, heal and let go of the negative narratives we hold, profound change becomes possible. Seeing ourselves more honestly and with greater compassion is often the first step to creating the life and relationships we long for. Healing the relationship with ourselves also opens the door for greater connection and intimacy with others.

Our pain and suffering is often our greatest spiritual teacher, and our symptoms often lead to more consciousness about our values and needs. I believe that each individual holds the wisdom and knowledge to their own healing. I serve as a supportive guide to help identify ways to connect to this innate wisdom and heal the wounds that holds the client back from living their soul’s purpose. Holding space for clients in their process of discovering a new sense of self compassion is humbling and gives me great life purpose.

It’s my experience that Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy facilitates these internal changes, and I plan to include more psychedelic trainings and modalities as they become legally available.

I offer in-person therapy in Southern Marin and Berkeley for individuals, couples, and teens (15+), as well as Telehealth sessions to California residents. My approach is trauma informed, spiritually grounded and culturally humble. I use somatic/yoga based practices to help clients to self-regulate, help calm and reset their nervous system and become more aware of their breathing, so their bodies become a safer place to reside in.
